Frequently asked questions.
Do you work with dog aggression and reactivity cases?
Yes. I regularly help with fear, anxiety, reactivity, and aggression in dogs. Safety and management come first, and I proceed with a humane, evidence-based plan tailored to your dog.
Do you offer virtual consultations outside Anchorage?
Yes. I provide virtual behavior consults anywhere in Alaska. In-home appointments are available in Anchorage (and nearby by arrangement). Virtual appointments may be appropriate even in Anchorage. I come to where your dog needs me, sometimes that means we need to meet virtually in the beginning.
How many sessions will I need?
Most guardians start with an initial consult (120 minutes) and 1–3 follow-ups. The exact number depends on your goals, the behavior, and practice between sessions.
Will you coordinate with my veterinarian?
Absolutely. Many behavior issues benefit from medical input. With your permission, I can share notes and collaborate with your veterinarian.
Do you use aversive tools or “balanced” training?
No. I follow LIMA-aligned, force-free methods. I focus on stress reduction, management, skill-building, and positive associations to create lasting change. Reactive dogs are commonly fearful. Using punishment or force on these dogs only serves to reinforce the behavior, or worse, cause the dog to hide it’s fears so that their only option is to bite. This does not solve the issue or how the dog perceives the situation. I strive to change the dogs emotions to the stimulus from negative to positive or, at least neutral.
What should I do before my first appointment??
Complete the intake form, share short videos of typical behaviors (if safe), gather vet records, prepare high-value food rewards your dog loves and make sure your dog is hungry and hasn’t just been fed.
What are your prices?
See the Appointments page for current pricing. Plans and follow-ups are listed with clear descriptions.
Do you work with cats?
My training in Applied Animal Behavior included many animals including cats. While I do not specialize in cats, I can help with some behavioral issues. I can also recommend other behaviorists who do specialize in cats.
